The right tools impact how you build.
The Servant’s Heart team knows about tools and how to use them. Our ministry makes an impact in the community because of the generous giving from our donors. We could not do what we do without the backing of our supporters!
The right tools can also impact how you give.
Did you know? There are some smart ways you can maximize your donations to keep more resources available!
We want to tell you about four specific tools you can have in your giving toolbelt. Read on for some great ideas.
Avoid income tax on required minimum distributions (RMD).
For IRA holders who are age 70 1/2, making a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly to a nonprofit is not included as taxable income to the individual. IRA holders over age 73 can satisfy their RMD (that is not included as taxable income) with a Qualified Charitable Distribution.
Start a donor advised fund (DAF).
Donors can contribute to a DAF, claim an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund to their preferred charities in the current and future years.
Check out the resources at National Christian Foundation.
Avoid capital gains from appreciated assets.
Donors can give appreciated assets like stocks, bonds, or real estate directly to a charity. There is no capital gains tax on the appreciated value, while the donation qualifies for a charitable deduction for the fair market value of the asset.
Give from your business.
Donations from a corporation may be tax-deductible, with a general limit of 10% of the corporation’s taxable income. Ask us about building materials and equipment you can donate to help us continue building The Great Falls Center.
What next?
As always, consult your financial advisor when making plans. And then give us a call to talk about how we can make an impact with your help!
