Where would our renovation projects be without our hardworking team of volunteers? Nowhere. Be the reason we’re able to provide quality builds at no labor cost, by serving on our project sites. Our Saturday Serve Days allow volunteers to serve with their hands and bring energy to our sites to show the people we serve that they matter. Whatever your skill level you bring, we have a place for you on our project sites.
Although our work varies depending on the needs of those we’re serving, our projects often cover any of the following:
It takes a lot of volunteer hours to keep this trades training and mentorship program running. We’re looking for skilled individuals who are passionate about passing on the trades to the next generation. Check out below to see how you can plug in and serve.
Our instructors are competent trades professionals who use their expertise and the curriculum we’ve developed to teach our students practical skills and expose them to a career path in each trade.
We’re looking for individuals who have worked in a particular trade for 10+ years, are able to train people who have zero experience, and are passionate about mentoring our students.
Teaching assistants come alongside our instructors to help the students grasp the material the instructors teach. These TA’s serve primarily in the jobsite portion of class, where they assist instructors in helping students operating tools and delegating tasks.
We’re looking for individuals who have experience doing construction work and can do all of the following well:
- Read a tape measure (1, ½, ¼, ⅛, 1/16)
- Use a circular saw to cut a straight line
- Hammer face and toe nails
- Use an impact driver to drive screws
- Use a chop saw to make precise cuts, including bevel and miter cuts
Mentors are a consistent source of support for our students throughout the semester and for some time after. They check in with their assigned students periodically to see how they’re doing, what they’re learning, and offer advice and support as they decide which trade they’d like to pursue.
We’re looking for individuals who have worked in the construction industry for 10+ years and are able to be present in class once a week and communicate with one or more students throughout the program and the months that follow.
